Soundless Home (Wishes)

All I've been thinking about is our day at the beach,

Sixteen,

Young and dumb,

Tracing our names into the sand,

Smiles etched on our faces,

My parents watching from the distance,

Now at twenty-one I lay in bed,

Wishing for my brain to be a soundless home,

But no questions of,

Who am I now?

Replays in my head,

Just a poor soul wishing to go back,

Back in time to tell you the things I was too afraid to.

At least I had the few years I did with you,

I try to remind myself of this,

All I've been thinking about is how your laughter echoes,

Echoes in my mind at night,

And just before falling asleep I mumble out,

I love you.
